Hybridizer’Description:(Catcher in the Eye x Meet Joe Black) x (Rippled Oasis) Sev. 5.5" fl. 34" sc. M 20 buds. One of the most exciting directions in pattern daylilies is the applique throats. Amber Rhum takes the applique throats to a new level in several ways. First, the applique is becoming more dramatic each generation, as it becomes raised and more iridescent. Second, the applique throats, traditionally an ivory color are taking on different colors, ranging from rose to (in this case) a deep amber gold. Third, the solid dark eye surrounding the applique throat has broken up to form a pattern itself, creating a pattern surrounding a pattern. The purple pattern eye is made up of a darker mascara edge with inward streaks. Also, note the speckles in the applique area; the seedlings from Amber Rhum take this to another level, creating a stardust effect.
